Anthony, Thanks for doing a great review of this guitar; without it I wouldn’t now be the proud owner of a superb example of the 3 colour sunburst model. I agree with your point about the slightly sharp fret ends (more precisely the fret end corners) which just need a little rounding off or dressing with a suitable file. Overall the quality of the guitar and sound is really excellent. The guitar was nicely set up when I received it and I am very very happy that I took the plunge. The fat neck is great and seems well shaped.
For anyone else out there who is thinking of buying a Kenny Wayne Shepherd Strat – don’t hang around as it does not seem to feature on the Fender.com catalogue as of February 2010. Certainly in the UK there are very few available on-line and one shop was quoted as saying they were no longer available. Keep up the good wrk with the great podcasts.
You did a great job with the review and your playing is great as well …very nice job …I like the way you really described the whole guitar …..really cool ….what you did here ..A+!!!
Nice review. I have an American Deluxe and am in the market for a backup. I would definitely look into a mid-level Strat. I have a comment on the videography. I love your instructional series (I have the 5 boxes and essential licks). I am an intermediate player and know my way around the frets pretty well, however I have problems knowing when to switch pickups for particular parts. In this video, I was able to see you switching clearly….very helpful. I’d love to see that more!
Thanks for doing this review. I have one of the first sunburst models Musicians Friend recieved and really love it for the price considering what a custom shop model would cost. I think the pickups are okay but they have a weird bite compared to the typical Texas Specials. What pickups are you looking to replace them with in the future?

Thorough and balanced; why is it so unique to read a review that actually talks about the shortcomings of equipment? Great job as always Anthony.
