Anthony, Thanks for doing a great review of this guitar; without it I wouldn't now be the proud owner of a superb example of the 3 colour sunburst model. I agree with your point about the slightly sharp fret ends (more precisely the fret end corners) which just need a little rounding off or dressing with a suitable file. Overall the quality of the guitar and sound is really excellent. The guitar was nicely set up when I received it and I am very very happy that I took the plunge. The fat neck is great and seems well shaped.

For anyone else out there who is thinking of buying a Kenny Wayne Shepherd Strat - don't hang around as it does not seem to feature on the Fender.com catalogue as of February 2010. Certainly in the UK there are very few available on-line and one shop was quoted as saying they were no longer available. Keep up the good wrk with the great podcasts.

Thorough and balanced; why is it so unique to read a review that actually talks about the shortcomings of equipment? Great job as always Anthony.

Nice review. I have an American Deluxe and am in the market for a backup. I would definitely look into a mid-level Strat. I have a comment on the videography. I love your instructional series (I have the 5 boxes and essential licks). I am an intermediate player and know my way around the frets pretty well, however I have problems knowing when to switch pickups for particular parts. In this video, I was able to see you switching clearly....very helpful. I'd love to see that more!

Thanks for doing this review. I have one of the first sunburst models Musicians Friend recieved and really love it for the price considering what a custom shop model would cost. I think the pickups are okay but they have a weird bite compared to the typical Texas Specials. What pickups are you looking to replace them with in the future?
